Align
South African banks don't have public APIs — so we turned email into one. Align parses your bank notifications with AI and gives you a real-time financial dashboard across every account you own.
No banking APIs, no visibility.
In South Africa, banks like FNB, Absa, Discovery, and Standard Bank don't expose public APIs for everyday users. If you want to track your spending across accounts, you're stuck downloading CSV statements, logging transactions by hand, or using fragmented tools that never have the full picture. Meanwhile, every single transaction triggers an email notification sitting unread in your inbox.
Email is the API, AI is the parser.
Align connects to your Gmail or Outlook via OAuth, fetches bank notification emails, and runs them through Groq's Llama 3.3 70B model to extract structured transaction data — amount, merchant, category, balance, and more. No screen-scraping, no bank credentials, just read-only email access.
Built on Next.js and Supabase, the app features a 3-tier automation engine that auto-categorises transactions using user rules, merchant overrides, and a built-in map of 100+ South African merchants across 18 categories. On top of that: dynamic budgets, savings goals, smart collections, and an AI chat interface for natural-language spending queries.
Full financial visibility, zero manual entry.
Align turns a limitation into a feature. Where other markets rely on open banking APIs, South Africa has email notifications — and Align makes that enough.
